ECEBC Position Paper: The Role of the Early Childhood Educator in British Columbia

Proposition

(1) Invite students to engage in a collective reading of the ECE proposition paper “The Role of the Early Childhood Educator in British Columbia”. There might be words unfamiliar students, as well as terms and ideas that are intriguing and inspiring. 

(2) Select 10 words from the Proposition Paper (possible list included below, for your consideration) and invite students, working in small groups, to illustrate these words with drawings NOT involving children / educators / humans. 

(3) Create a space to share these drawings and invite each group to present their ideas

rooted (“the commitments to a culturally rooted vision of learning”)

livable (“move towards more livable worlds”)

craft (“Educators collaboratively craft these pedagogical responses in local contexts”)

inherit (“Today’s children inherit challenging issues”)
